What does it take for one to reach the elite level? Several things can impact the amount of success an individual will have. This includes somebody's genes, muscle fibers, the environment they grew up in, the structure of bones, anthropometric measurements, and the motivation to play from the people around them.

Physiology of ACL tears in Female Soccer Players

There are many factors which can influence an individual possibly having a tear of the ACL. Scientist today are still actively researching some of the risks of why these tears occur and the explanations towards women being more prone to tearing their ACLs. The purpose of this paper is to analyze some of these different factors of ACL tears in female soccer players. The analysis will look at anthropometric measurements of the joints, role of hormones, stress and fatigue on the knees, and concluding with the current strength training exercises to prevent and treat these injuries.
